Sustainability

Crafted with intention. Measured with care.

At Nadia Alexander, sustainability isn’t a surface layer — it’s sewn into every seam. From the wool we source to how we design and deliver, every decision is guided by three core pillars: people, planet, and economic sustainability.

We honour people through fair employment, skills development, and inclusive practice. Our entire workforce is paid above the Real Living Wage, and we invest in future generations through apprenticeships and mental wellbeing initiatives. All garments are made by our in-house team at Alexander Manufacturing, one of Scotland’s last standing garment factories.

We care for the planet by designing seasonless collections in small batches, made from traceable Scottish wool and natural fibre blends. Our regenerative textile initiative — the Mause Project — transforms surplus fleece into limited-edition wool clothing and sustainable packaging, reducing waste and emissions.

We champion economic sustainability by producing locally. We believe that making clothing in Scotland doesn’t just reduce our footprint — it strengthens communities, preserves skills, and regenerates regional economies.

We honour heritage, invest in future craft, and design with purpose — proving that sustainable fashion can be luxurious, elegant, and lasting.

Our Sustainability Model

  • Materials: Traceable Scottish wools, natural fibre blends, and reduced water processing
  • Local Making: Vertical production within 500 miles, minimising freight and investing in the Scottish economy
  • Slow Fashion: Limited runs, seasonless design, and wardrobe longevity

Our Commitments

We’re on track to reach Net Zero by 2030, supported by:

  • Development of a self-powered green factory
  • 100% natural, traceable materials
  • Minimal water usage in wool processing
  • Quarterly sustainability audits and lifecycle reviews

Our Impact

  • Fair income for Scottish farmers
  • Wool saved from landfill or incineration
  • Local job creation and apprenticeships
  • Reduction in carbon across every stage
  • Transparent supply chains that connect customer to maker

We are also committed to the Real Living Wage, mental wellbeing, and equitable employment. Our sustainability strategy aligns with global goals:

  • SDG 12: Responsible Production – Local, limited and low-waste
  • SDG 13: Climate Action – Low-carbon manufacturing and material sourcing

This is slow luxury — built to last, designed to evolve.
