HANDMADE IN SCOTLAND
The Process
As the last remaining supplier of handmade raincoats in Scotland, Alexander Manufacturing and our vastly experienced coat-makers utilise centuries old techniques to develop fully functional weather-proof articles across a number of materials. A technique pioneered by Thomas Hancock in 1843, this patented process revolutionised waterproof outerwear, marrying tradition with innovation.

Patterns
01
Our highly skilled and experienced in-house pattern makers meticulously craft and design patterns bespoke to any project, ensuring precise measurements and optimal fit for each coat.

Cut
02
Expert pattern cutters are trained to carefully and precisely cut the fabric according to the developed patterns, maximising efficiency and minimising waste.

Hand Glue
03
The Alexander Manufacturing coat makers then apply specifically formulated adhesive by hand, ensuring seamless bonding of fabric layers for superior durability and waterproofing.

Sew
04
With unparalleled precision and care, our highly skilled seamstresses stitch together the components of the coat, combining functionality with elegance.

Tape
05
Each seam in then sealed with vulcanised rubber tape, enhancing and ensuring the coat's waterproof properties and ensuring long-lasting protection against the elements.

Finish
06
Each garment then undergoes meticulous inspection and finishing touches using the original tools, including trimming excess materials and reinforcing critical areas of durability. Each coat is a testament to Alexander Manufacturing's commitment to quality and craftsmanship, offering unparalleled protection and timeless style.
